Food Plots / Habitat
Visit us at the Iowa Deer Classic in Des Moines February 24-26, 2012 at the Iowa Events Center. We’ll be in booth 412!
Establishing food plots for wildlife is not difficult and can be done with minimal investment. A basic understanding of the soil, the wildlife species you wish to attract, and wildlife food preferences will help make your food plots successful. When done properly, food plots can provide opportunities to view wildlife and develop a healthier wildlife population.
One key to successful habitat and food plots is to have diverse plant types in the seed mixtures. At Arrow Seed we do our best to emulate natural diversity in our mixtures by using adapted varieties of complimentary species. Appropriate seed count ratios are key to achieving long term diversity.
Custom mixtures to your specifications are also available.

When I was planning my visit to the Big Buck Classic in the spring of 2011 I had one thing on my mind: that was to find a suitable food plot seed that would be better than any other seed that I had tried thus far.
My plan was to clear about 4 acres of dead fall, cedars and briar type bushes. The first week of July the dozer moved in and after a couple of long days the sight was ready for seed. I disked the area 3 to 4 times and then left it lay until I was ready to plant.
The seed that friends from Arrow Seed Company recommended was Krunch N Munch. I purchased enough seed to cover the 4 acres. On August 13th we received about a half inch of rain and the next day was planting day. I disked it one more time and then broadcasted the Krunch N Munch on the surface, rolled it a couple of times to gain good soil to seed contact and the waiting began, but not for long. After 5 days I revisited the plot only to find that it was already green–totally amazing! I believe every seed grew the way it seemed. Rainfall was limited but the growth of the product was remarkable. In just 40 days it went from the bag to the most lush food plot you could imagine.
The increased deer traffic was awesome. It held the deer though the fall and winter months. Any time of the day when I would visit the sight there was activity. I also had a supplement on the plot edge to help with the over all health of the herd. I have attached photos of deer that visited the plot & lick area. I harvested my best buck ever with the bow, a 156″ four pointer that made the visit to the plot one too many times!
Thanks again Krunch N Munch
